fish death ....

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
also - what kind of time period am i looking at to know the LMB is out of the woods as far as surviving the shock of transport and what not.

72 hours or so. once he starts eating, and swimming around he should be OK.. expect to need to upgrade around 18" 6 months or so. a 220 would be a good step. at 10" he's prolly 1.5 yrs old. at least I know thats about the size WI's LMB are at that time frame. depending on food ect, 24" in 3-5 yrs. a 300 gal water trough would also make a nice "pond" for him for a while as well and are relatively cheap.

well, its been over 3 days and the largemouth has yet to eat any of the food presented to him. any tips or advice on inducing appetite?

would bet this fish is dead soon..no mention by op at all of his future plans for the fish. Personally I find something wrong with taking a 10 inch fish out of the wild and sticking it into your crappy 50 or 75...what a lucky fish to have found you

i think it was a parasite inside of him or something but if it wasnt the oxygen then i dont know what it could be??? sry :(

i appreciate the both sincere and helpful response. You have zero idea of any of my plans for the fish ( ie plans for outdoor pond, larger tank, etc). Maybe if you actually had legitimate concern for the fish you would contribute, not just berate the owner in an extremely facetious and condescending manner to boost your own fragile ego. If you have anything productive to contribute, please do, otherwise please keep to yourself.

Anyway, thanks to everyone else who has helped me out, I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

To STX, i added dewormer two days ago. so if that is the issue hopefully it will clear up soon.

Was not being facetious at all, being serious. What are your future plans? Elaborate on them for me then. I have zero idea because you have avoided answering it pages back when recommended and made no mention of any upgrade plans. You also showed that you could not keep it alive for more than an hour.

I do have legit concern for the fish, and you are not the owner, you are some dude who took him and will prob kill him

lol u sir are an idiot.i have hard time taking someone seriously who has a "cock" reference in their screen name. im guessing youre < 16 yrs old.go troll elsewhere. fyi i have a large back yard and am willing and able to make a large pond if necessary. also, think of all the prey fish i saved by taking that bass out of the wild ;) i should be considered an ecological saint.

anyway, the fish is eating and doing well now. thanks to all for the help!

ha yea, tried that the first time. acclimated it for only like 20 min. didnt last too long in the tank..
