During the last round of cleaning the Sump It was decided to remove the
PVC cages holding the filter mats.

This time the Mats was laid down flat on the sump floor as shown.

This seem to work as well. When the DIY Shower system was completed
it was a few months after this final old system submerged media sump cleanup.

The walls of the sump is still very well covered with algae even after cleaning.

Quick update. Seem the shower is doing fine at the moment. Not much of bubbles/foam
in this case; as i was expecting after reading the experiences of other users.

Have to measure the ph, TDP etc to check soon. Update on that later.
Till then cheers.

Posting some pics of the pond fishes.
The pond is actually just for the Asian Arowanas. Just 6 in number.

They seem to like to congregate at the plastic pallets.
This was taken in the evening with just a 40 watt fluorescent light.
The pic are not that clear. May have to add more light next time
so that the camera can capture the fish better. have to do for now.

The water clarity have improved and the pond floor is now more clearer
than ever before. look new again.
Apologies for the rather blurry pics.

The sump section is now clear of algae growth. The shower system really made a difference here.
I guess it is due to the high water volume of water passing thru the
shower media and gassing off all the ammonia etc...

The indoor section is now clear of debris for the first time in two years since the pond
was in use. Usually after a week or so you can see the waste build up on the floor.

Hopefully this will be a good sign. except for the tds reading.

any one like to enlighten on that?

Looks like the sump section would now be usable as a long community tank
for some small type of fishes. Will be putting in some over the coming days.
Probably starting with some zebra, tetras neons and similar sized kind of fishes..
Got to see what is available at the local fish shop.

Will take pics of the new additions when they are added.

Here's a possible list for the old sump. may not be able to get all but worth a try.
Will probably get between 6-10 fishes per type.
1. Clown loaches to add to the remaining one in the indoor pond.
2. Tiger Barbs - used to have in the main pond but the aros got them all.
3. Silver Barbs - a few different variety are available locally.
4. Malaysian River Carp - Local Name 'Jewalat or Sultan Fish'
5. Local Fighting Fish
6. Small Sized Gouramies various types.
7. Local Carp - Kelah already have 3
8. Various types of tetras.
9. Guppies.

Here a few pics of the local fishes.

Here is the first batch of Fish for the Old Sump Section.

Will be looking to adding new batches once each week end.
Today would be the Tiger Barbs. Ten of them were brought at the
local fish shop for MYR 1.50 each. some feeders were also purchased.

The routine would be to put them in a small quarantine tank.
Later will be released into the old sump section. The feeders would
be put in the main indoor pond for the arowanas as food. However the aros
would have to catch them first.

Some pics. of the new additions.
