^ Seems like things are starting to get going for you...

As for the self cloning crays, aka marbled crays, you gotta becareful, as i think they are illegal to buy and sell in a lot of parts in the US? although i could very well be mistaken, but be sure to double check...

I think they might be illegal in a few states, But I know they are legal to have in New York state because the guy I might buy them from is also located in New York state.

Do you breed any fish or shrimp yourself?

^ I breed marble crays myself.. but they are used as a food source for my puffer and not for sale, unless other friends need some in which case i give them a few for free to start their own colony...

Also, i would still just double check the laws with marbles, because, you'd rather be safe than sorry when being a seller... because as i'm sure you know, just because its illegal to sell, doesn't stop people from doing it...

If you find a source that will buy your fish you could earn some real money. If the people go to your house to pick up the fish. Clean the tanks 2 hours before they come. make your tanks look professional if people will be seeing them. Just a good tip.

I don't think people will be coming to pick up the fish as my parents don't want random people coming into our house which is understandable..But thanks for the tip I will remember it for the future

I will defiantly check the marble crayfish law, I wouldn't want any problems.

awsome post alot of fun to read good luck with your projects and i might have a 35 gallon tank, stand, lid, light, filter and some other random stuff to donate to you and i might buy some of those guppies and shrimp from you i want to start a 10 gallon tank for my daughter.

dont listen to all these clowns trying to put you down even if it doesnt work out in the long run have fun while your doing it and thats all that matters they are mad they dont have the oprotunity to do what you are able to do.

best of luck to you and i will keep you updated on the tank probly going to be a couple of weeks all i have is sundays off of work and my sundays are tyed up with football but u talk to your parents and we can meet up somewhere and u can have it all.

Just thought I would drop by to tell you to keep up the good work. America needs young minds like yours to help our country stay competitive.
Many people surrender to the big box retailer mentality. And because they can't beat them, they decide to join them. Corporate America is partly responsible for the dire straits that our country is in. It makes me smile to see your enthusiasm, drive and determination. And it's easy to see that you love what you are doing.

I enjoy the excitement of you waking up and finding newborn fry in your tank. I admire your ability to problem solve. "The Rams are eating up the profit they gotta go!" Lol! Stay sharp kid. Be flexible. And above all else keep some integrity.
Study how to package and ship fish. When it comes to online sales the greatest issue is making sure your livestock arrives alive. develop a concrete policy for being able to insure and/or replace fish. Your word is your bond. even if it means you have to operate at a lost.

Take care of your customers and they will be loyal. In my experience and research that is a big issue. Get a clear understanding of the policies of the suppliers that you deal with. and try to 1 up them. Not in prices but in service. You've got a fan in me. And i'm not an easy person to impress. If I were an investor I would bet the farm on you. God bless!

Thanks guys, I really appreciate it. I'm hoping everything works out. I just listed an ad in the classifieds for the guppies. If I don't sell to anybody by february I will just list them on aquabid.
I'm going to need some more money to invest into this so I'm hoping I can sell these guppies and shrimp when they are ready or I'll have to sell of my silver that I invested in to get a few more tanks so I can get this to what I would like.
So far the following are my plans once we set up the fish room:
55gal:Cichlid or Pleco breeding
20gal:Platy breeding
10gal:Black Moscow AOC guppies breeding
10gal:Other type of guppy breeding
10gal:Crayfish breeding
5.5 Gal:Shrimp breeding

That would probably cost me at least $500 after the tanks, heater, filter system, and stock.
I think that it would pay off and I could slowly expand to the level of small business.

You should find out whats worth more money, the crays or the shrimp... coz if the shrimp are worth more, might be an idea to put them in the 10G and really get a colony started so you have more shrimp to sell...

Good news, So this is what happened. Well I have more guppy fry! Gave birth to around 20 more and I realized some fry I originally thought were guppy fry were actually platy fry, they will sell for cheaper but no problem, still excited either way!!! I might be trading some of these for another type of guppy that are very nice
