Iwould say this^^^. a tank with a healthy BB colony should never stink even if something is dead inside of it.I've had tanks with enough scavengers that if something died I wouldn't remove it, and it would be consumed in days. During the process the carrion would stay fresh as if refridgerated. The tank never stunk or spiked because of the ample BB. Like someone else suggested. add another sponge filter, You can't go wrong.
