Fish tanks are hard work

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
The nitrates are low. I guess the substrate is just really dirty.

Yea I already spend about an hour or so a weekend. Anymore time my girl might kill me lol. Plus i gotta treat my water before putting it in the tank. More power to ya for doing it up right tho.

I have drip systems set up on my 600 and 270 I only do water changes on the 75 and 55 grow out tanks....I couldn't imagine having to do water changes by hand on the big tanks weekly.....it would be a nightmare

its not that bad, all water siphoned out the back slider or windows. the 180 drains into a 5g bucket none stop, I use that to rinse all the filters while its draining. still leaves plenty of time to get a good vacuuming done on it. fill with a python.

Yea mines pretty much automated. I fill my Rubbermaid buckets up with about 80 gallons Dump some prime in it and than use my pump to fill the tank No physical labor. Just a little consuming

What's up with your girlfriend?....do the two of you not have much time to spend together or is she just that clingy? What's your process for treating your new water?

I do 50% on my 80 once a week and that is more than sufficient I have been doing this hobby for 45 years and never had a promblem with weekly water changes of 50 % . Even did 50% on my goldfish tank a 75 and had them for years. Are you overfeeding possibly?

Girlfriend or not I wouldn't wanna spend anymore time on it. During week we both work a lot and travel so weekend is our time. Just prime.
