Fish That Don't Interest You

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Piranhas for me. fascinating as a species in the wild but after seeing a few tanks with them in i think they are way overrated and quite boring in an aquarium.
also african rift lakes. mbuna i think, if thats the smaller more overstocked type of fish. very colourful but just no personality like large CA/SA cichlids or SH's.

Gars too. My little brother wanted to by a small one the other day when we were in the LFS. It was cheap and his first fish so we put it in one of my community tanks. He thinks it's great but I think it's horrible.

I think it's kind of endearing for a younger kid to love a fish they have, regardless of your personal preferences. Sometimes you just need to be happy for them.

Mmmkay.

Nobody is downplaying anything. We are just stating which fish we don't find particularly interesting, or just frankly don't like. There is no reason to take anybody's likes or dislikes personally...

Oh im not saying dont express to others ones opinions, I am just saying to have care with it. Personally when I find someone is excited in a good way about this hobby I try my best to encourage that excitement as this hobby does so many fantastic things for people and their lives, myself included.

I have just seen where some people think their comments are going to be taken as a joke when actually in the end of it the persons excitement just died as a result and they did not seem the same after.

For example yesterday on aquaria central I was reading a post from person who was pumped totally about a tank set up they had found for $50 but a few people really poo pooed it.

Just tryin to offer a thought to stay on the positive side of matter

Lets all just stay positive and respectful of everybodys opinions....

Absolutely. I actually edited my post earlier after rereading it to show my agreement, and because I didn't want anything to be taken the wrong way. I have a habit of saying things a certain way, and it comes off as me being a **** lol. I totally get what you are saying. :)

I hate guppies. They come in so many colors and all, but they barely live long enough to keep as pets IMHO

I have never been drawn to bichirs, african cichlids, loaches or planted tanks. All seem very boring to me. Sivler arowannas and peacock bass are my favorites along with SA cichlids.

I know. Most common, little, schooling tetras. Some are pretty neat, and the monsters from the Characin family amaze me, but those tiny little silver and gold fish just seem like tiny little jokes. Barbs are alright, even. Their colors are appealing. But plain silver with hints of black and red? Why?
