Fish you dislike.

I dislike:

Mutant or Altered Fish (Parrotfish, Tattooed fish, Color Enhanced Fish)

Common Fish that grow too large for common home aquariums (Oscars, Clown Knife, Pacu)

Large Un-Intelligent Fish (Cyprinids (Especially Goldfish), and some Characins..)

Nocturnal Fish that do next-to-nothing 95% of the time..

'Over-hyped' Fish that are popular just because they eat other fish.. (Pirhanas, Oscars, most common Cichlids..)

There were alot more fish that I used to really dislike, but I have grown to appreciate them for their aesthetic value.. Ie: Always hated Tetras and Corydoras, but now that I have seen a nicely planted tank with proper schools of each type, I now appreciate them much more..

i don't like raphael cats much either. they look cool but thats all they have going for them. i have 2 a striped and a spotted i think i haven't seen them in quit some time.

I just got home from my local fish club meeting. I couldn't help but to think of this thread while I was there. One guy there referred to geophagus as "stupid boring geophagus!" over and over..

Weird because most people seem to like them on some level. I like them alot

I really dont hate any fish just some of the keepers.

Lets see first off is goldfish keepers because they just dont want to believe that they need to buy an actual tank with filtration and a heater ( before you go slamming me they do better with a heater set at 72 especially during the winter fluctuations in temp is bad even for goldfish )

Damn wanna be thugs stinking of weed asking what the most aggressive fish are. These people should be shot all they care about is seeing the fish fight you know i really shouldnt hate them that much cause most of them are the repeat customers and the ones that constantly by meds because thier fish came down with fin rot.

And finally those people that suck up all of your knowledge then turn around and go to petsmart because the fish are cheaper. If you find a good LFS support them cause when you really need help they will be there unlike those damn chain pet stores.

Africans.... rrrrg!! And FAKE PARROTS!! POO! Only parrots I like are the TRUE parrots...Hoplarchus psittacus. Did I mention I don't like africans? yeah...i think i did...but i shall reiterate...AFRICANS!! They are pretty, but I won't be owning any anytime soon.... As for livebearers...not exactly my fav. fish either, but they are a great food supply and great breeders...sooooooooo...

Oscars don’t start getting ugly until they reach 12 inches. Once people see how big and ugly they get. They always think twice about getting one. however, I like them, will never own one for myself.
Fish I dislike:
Convicts: I hate their size. Too small. make great feeder fish.
Zebra’s: again size. Great colors.
Pleco: I have a 14 inch pleco, which I am thinking of getting rid of. It has no purpose therefore it most go.
And last…Puffer fish: is there nothing they can’t bite,kill, devour.
By kill I mean nipping and biting other fish’s fins. Until they no longer are able to swim, therefore, unable to fed or maintain control. Elephant noise’s attacked by puffers are only left to drift helplessly only to be found in a dark corner behind the yellow dolphin decoration. Then early sunday morning the owner will find the big fat lazy puffer eating the eye’ right off the face of his favorite fish.

I have been in the hobby for over 20 years and when I started the meaner the fish was the more I liked it and I thought neons , tetras , etc. were sissy fish and were nothing more than fancy looking feeder fish. but I have mellowed with time BUT i still do not like SNAKEHEADS OR EELS !!!!
they are nasty looking critters and too much like snakes for me !!!
but thats just me and I'm silly like that.

Theory;
If oscars were rare, most of the same people who dislike them would suddenly want them. Disclaimer: I'm not pointing the finger at anyone here who hates O's. I'm not crazy about them myself and have no intention of owning another one.

transversely, If zebra plecos were as common as neon tetras, people wouldn't care one tenth as much about them as they do now.
