Fish youve had difficulties keeping?

Nile Perch... (Lates niloticus, L. calcarifer, sp.) sudden mystery deaths when grown out to 8-10" size range. Assuming something internal?... (intestinal parasites, roundworms, tape worms, copepods, camallanus, etc.?) Currently have 4 strikes on them. :(

This was before the recent flooding supply of Lates perch that hit the fish markets like Hurricane Katrina... earlier this year. That really turned me off!

it's alway's been angel fish for me, they alway's die or just disappeer never to be found again

For me, and this is embarrassing, but multi cichlids. I could never get the little bastards happy enough to breed.

Blue rams! One lasted only hours! They do great for a few weeks in the QT, then get all black, stop eating and die. :swear: This has happened with fish from LFS (the ram that lasted a few hours was the only fish to come in alive of 10 I special ordered)as well as from private breeders, so I give up on these fish.

Cardinal tetras, too. Bought 12 to put in with my ugly ass pigeon blood discus, now I have 2 left. 3 or 4 dead every morning! :WHOA:

I was freaking out and testing my water twice a day! Nothing wrong with the water, so it must have been the fish! :(

it's not a matter of being hardy..... it's just being eatten or jumping out or sucked in power head????? and they were all about 4-5 inchs

Ditto...mine that were sucked into the power head and filter were only 3" or so though....and the ones that jumped were 4 to 5" as well...dunno why they jumped...really confused me. She was my best female...gorgeous red color...sigh....so far my current festae female is doing grrrreat! ;)....not as red as i would like her to be though....but shes still perty...

I had a hard time with some black arowanas that i got from a lfs. They were rediculously small at purchase time( one still had an egg sack attached) and quickly developed ich. I usually use formalin at 1/2 strength for silverscaled or scaleless fish but both ended up the same way down the toilet.

They are sensitive at those sizes. Your best bet is to get a 6-8 inch specimen next time. A lot hardier and a better bargain in the long run
