SPOTS FISHED-1

TIME FISHED-9.5 HRS

FISH LANDED-6

Today I went out to "Carnagia lake" in Princeton,NJ. This was only my second time fishing there this year. It was a beautiful day, probaly the last time the air temp will reach 70 this year.

I was the first boat on the water at 7:30 and about five minutes later another boat with two people on it followed. I bring this up cause these people taught me a very good lessen today. So Im sticking and moving doing my usual and I have caught two at the point were I meet up with them. I was happy with my two until they tell me that they got 6. So I ask them are you guys jigging cause I noticed you guys were taking your time. They said no, we are using 4" senkos. As we are talking one of them catches another bringing their total to 7.
Im bring this up cause seeing them catch bass in cold water on a rubber worm really blew me away. Until today I really thought tring to use rubber worms would be a waste of time in cold water. I knew that when fish are not that active that a slow presentation is the way to go but I also thought that when the water is below 55 that you should be using a jig, not a rubber worm. I stand corrected!!
Back to the update. So naturally I tie on my dinger and on another pole I put on a 1/4oz bullet weight and a tube. The "tubey tube" caught me my thrid and fourth fish. The fifth fish came on the "spinny" and the sixth and final fish was landed on the "dinger"

Learned a very good lessen today!!!!!!

~~~~~~FISH MORE~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~STRESS LESS~~~~~~
You got some nice fatties there! thanks for the tip. I havent tried worms much but recently i am too impatient!
Places fished~1
Time fished~3 and a half hours.
Fish landed 10-12 :headbang2
I went to a friends house to fish and got my sisters telescopic rod out. It casted a lot further then mine though the line wasnt half as strong. After casting a bit at one side of the pond a bit i only had a bluegill chase my lure. I continued walking around and casting until i got to a deeper place. After a couple of good sized fish had escaped i finally landed a 12 incher on my Rapala original floater.
It was strange, in a pond I had fished recently i had the best results when i let the original floater float on the surface and then pull it down, let it rise back up and then repeat until th fish would bite.
This time they always would hit when the lure was in motion. So i reeled in faster, letting the lure go down deeper.
Almost the next cast i caught another small 12 incher and let my sister fight the fish. She wanted to cast by herself and after an agonizingly long time she hooked and landed another twelve incher, the largest fish she had ever caught. It looks like like a spotted bass.. She gave up and i tied on a Rapala countdown on my other rod. I banged a 12 1/2 incher then and soon a 14 incher, the largest fish i had caught on an original floating rapala so far.
I tied replaced the original floating with a rapala skitterpop and on the second cast as the lure was 3 feet from the shore a bass shot out of nowhere and pulled it under violently I yelled with surprize and pulled up the 13 incher, the first fish landed on the skitterpop (i had hooked fish before with it though).
I hooked a 14 incher with the skitter pop, then hooked another bass with the countdown on the other rod.
Fishing topwater lures is one of the funnest was to fish and i got super excited when a large bass took the skitter pop i fought it to the shore and measured it... a tiny bit below 16 inches!!! the second largest bass i have caught.
After that the fishing slow and after a 1 or two more 14 inchers I switched to a spinner and caught my first bluegill of the day.
I hooked into an nice 12-13 inch bass but right when i thought i had him beat he went he made a nice run and got away.
After that it got dark and cold and no more fish would bite.
Minus the last 30 minutes it was a grat day!
Now for the pics
Well the bite has fallen wayyyyy off at my favorite spot. For the last 4 outings I have only been able to land 7 fish. Normally I can pull in on average about 4-6 fish per outing, even if they are lil dinks. Here are the pics of the fish I have been able to land. The first one is of a guy that was there that never saw a LMB before and was cheering me on the whole time. As I was talking to him, I threw out a cast, and got so into talking to him that I didn't even recognize the tick tick tick at the end of the line, and this is what was trying to get my attention.
Since you have been seeing a decrease in catches try the spinner bait and mix some hard baits in there like a DT-4. That will tell you if there is a presentation preference going on with the bass. They can be tricky sometime.
BTW-Good catches!!
Great stuff!!
Yeah the top water bite is the BEST with any type of fishing!! Thats why Im so addicted to the buzzy.
BTW- that spinner you mentioned was a in-line spinner bait. They will catch bass and pan fish but for the most part the bass will be small but Im not saying I never seen people catch a big bass on them. All im trying to say basically, is that get a 1/4oz ALL WHITE boo-ya amd when the fish are in umbush mode it will be just as fun as the top water bite.
Great work,keep it up!!
Where do you live at?
SPOTS FISHED-1
TIME FISHED-45 Minutes
FISH LANDED-1
Got off work alittle early at 3 and was fishing at the "CNJ" at 3:30. Had one pole with me with the spinny tied on it, so I started out with that. After about 3 cast I decided to try what I learned yesterday.That the rubber worm was still working. On my fifth cast with a black and blue "dinger" BAM a fat 14"er jumped right on it. Did one quick walk around and hopped right back and the car an left.
Only one fish but it was definitely appreciated!!
Had a tiny bit of time and so after changing lures several times i stuck with my skitter pop for some topwater action. I walked around the pond and made a long cast for whatever reason i looked away fromthe lure and imediately heard a splash and fet a tug on my rod i set the hook and pulled in a nice and fat 12 incher not big but it was fun.
Dude...I thought you lived in Brazil...lol
For the NY area guys out there, I'm taking advantage of the day off and good weather tomorrow and going out to Canarsie Pier with my Dad. I got 3 new rods, one repaired, plus a new set of fish grippers and a new reel that I'm getting tomorrow, and I gotta break all that new stuff in :D
I've thrown everything I have in my tackle kit at them. Cranks (shallow and deep), buzzy's, spinners. It has been a trying time to get them to bite. But I ain't givin up
