FISHING SEASON 2K11!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
are you talking about below the dam there? I just looked it up and said Feb is best, is it good all winter? Nice Pompano!

Yes, below McAlpline.

Feb is best but starting in December it can be good.

Water levels are key though. I forget what exact numbers to look for on the hydrologic graphs. There are two good fishing spots, the horseshoe in front of the interpretive center and the shoot near the dam under the train bridge. Youll see people fishing there. I will try and find out what levels to look for and send them to you so you can plan a trip when the water levels are just right.

My favorite bait is a chart 3/8-1/2oz jig head with a Gulp Smelt.

I appreciate the tips. Ill definitely get down there as I am sure Ill have the itch by then! Have never bank fished the Ohio and I know you have quite a bit, is that a good flathead spot? Also, I think we discussed buffalo once before. Is this a good spot for carp and buffalo as well?

It can be a GREAT catfish spot, blues, flatheads and channels. If you can catch it just right after a sudden drop in water lever the fishing can be insane. Ive had trips where the catfish, including the biggest blue Ive ever seen, were just trapped in little pools. It was like fishing in a barrel. That big blue was at least 75lbs and my bro inlaw tried to grab it at the base of its tail and he couldnt even come close to wrapping his hands around it! The summer is best for catfishing. Also the carp and buffalo will stack up there in the summer too. Lots of quillbacks, bufallo, common carp, big head carp and silver carp. Also the hybrid and stripe fishing can be a blast in the summer. Throw large top waters like zara spooks in the white water below the dam in the evening and hold on!

Make sure you bring waders for sauger fishing though and you will probably have to get a little wet. Bring ALOT of jig heads too, youll lose them.

Went for 8hours today using a Deadbait-rig with sardines.
It was a really disappointing day,and it was really cold at just 33.8 degrees.
The entire week I fed the pike at my fishingspot with sardines,by casting pieces of sardine in to the water to feed them and get used to the taste.
But when we arrived today other fishermen where already fishing on the spot,They told me they caught two nice sized pikes.
Really sucked for me though, now we had to find another spot where I didn't fed the pike.
So it went back to one of my favourite spots, but nothing happend the entire day.
One of my friends caught a 12inch pike using a lure but thats just not enough fish for an entire day of fishing.

What's up fellas !!!

Me I'm at work but hopefully I'll get atleast one boat trip in before Monday !!!

-20c? Thats no fun. It was in the 80'sF here today. Went surf fishing again. Only managed one pomp. The surf was a bit muddier then I liked. I gave the fish away to a friend who landed a nice one so he and his family could have a good dinner. This was my dinner last night. Pecan Encrusted pompano with fresh green beans, smoked gouda cheese grits with bacon and a baked sweet potato. Southern food is the best food!

Ignore the guns and tomahawk, they were for another website...Arfommers will know what Im talking about.
