That weight sounds about right for 33". Nice fish for sure, the one I have posted was just under 30". The fish Im getting off my spots close to the beach for what ever reason are much fatter then the ones we caught offshore this year. Look at the "shoulders" on that fish, they were all like that. I suppose they are less pressured and have more food closer in.
They are surprisingly strong, and its cool when we get em chummed up down current of the structure a few yards, when hooked, the yak will swing around and they will you straight back to the structure. Mean while the fish is diving down, you have your drag locked down as tight as it will go, the fish is still ripping line and your fighting it with just your arms and your core in order to keep from flipping the kayak. You cant really lean into them like you can on a boat.
Im serious, if you can find a way to get down here and do this, it will SPOIL you. Man its such a blast, especially on the days when you can catch snapper after snapper. My spots are so good that unless its cloudy and rough, as soon as we get to the spots you can look over and down into the water and just see snapper everywhere.
I'm waiting for a storm to pass and Im going out my self.
