Nice snapper! Looks like dinner!

Thanks guys, unfortunately in NC you can't keep em so this guy got to go home after whoopin my ass. Was one hell of a fight and the heaviest fish I've ever caught not counting rays/sharks etc at a little over 25lbs. Didnt do a full report last night as I didn't sleep the night before, drove 3 hours down, fished all day, drove 3 hours back, and then didnt get done cleaning fish until midnight, that being said its 1pm and i just woke up haha.

Was really hoping to get on some grouper yesterday but it was very slow for the big uglies as there was only 5 or 6 keepers landed all day on the whole boat, one of which was a nice 15lb scamp though. Didn't get any personally. Also a slow day on the AJs as only 2 were landed, one 17lb and one 18lb that won the big fish pot because my american red didn't count as we couldn't bring it back.. That was the biggest reason i was irritated in putting it back in as it would have won me roughly $200 and the trip would have paid for itself lol. No action on the lightlines, had a bigass 4-5ft barracuda come lookin at the cigar minnow I had out but wouldn't take it. Didn't get any triggers either though a decent amount were caught near the front of the boat. As far as keeper fish still ended up with a cooler full included 3 big black bass, one monster at 18" - 2 beast vermillion snapper at 16" and 17" respectively, and we kept probably 35 porgies and 2 ringtails. Really wish I coulda caught more v liners or some triggers or a keeper grouper but we had a pretty good day and caught more (at least numbers wise) than any other 2 people on the boat accounted for. Threw back as many porgies as we kept and a handful of undersized sea bass, along with lots of aggravating little french grunts >_>

Awesome dude, looks like it was a great trip!

How long do you think that ARS was? Not saying anything because I know youre a big dude and we all know that its hard to tell in a photo but that doesnt look twenty five to me. This snapper that I put my cousins husband on, out of a kayak, was maybe seventeen pounds. Now that you see how hard they fight, can you imagine getting them out of a kayak?

You have to come down and fish with me next snapper season, on calm clear days we chum them up and you literally just drop a baited hook in front of the fish you want and hold on.

Dont feel bad you had to toss him back though, give me a mess of black sea bass and mingos - what we call vermillion snapper - any day over ARS, especially the big ones you got.

Oh yeah, did you check out my vid a few pages back of the little mahi jumping into my kayak?

Surf fishing out of Folly Beach South Carolina 5 minutes south of Charleston. Used Carolina rigs (ironic right) with live finger mullet I caught and made a decent catch of speckled trout. Figures I only took a picture of the smallest one but I caught them varying from 17"-24". Also caught the smallest pompano I've ever seen in my cast net. All of my fish were caught on the early half of high tide. I'm hoping tomorrow will bring some reds and flounder as well.

Nice trout man. Those little pomps are every where down here. I had school of them nipping at my arm pit hair the other day while I was looking for sand dollars. Crazy little bastards.

You know more about em than me i'm just going off what the mate guessed the weight at, I measured it right on 33" from head to tail with the tape measure i got. As soon as I caught the sucker my first thought was "how in the hell does JD catch these out of a yak".... hahaha - i did see the mahi video that was so funny when he jumped in with you

awesome catches. Obviously bass and snapper are delicious but dont discount those porgies. Those little fellas are darn decent too!! Great report. When I get down to FL in October, I'm gonna get me some salty fish as well.
