FISHING SEASON 2K12!!!!!!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Todays fishing really sucked,we had 14strikes but no catches so far.
I missed an absolute monsterpike! it was between 4 en 5ft and probably closer to 5 then 4.
Fighting took me half an hour and this beast was so big that it did not fit in the net. the same fishing net that I could easily use to grab my 43incher last year.
The second time we tried to grab the fish with the net one of the trebles got stuck in the net,the pike flipped and managed to get out of the net breaking the rings attached to my trebles.
Those rings are 80lbs tested!
I was devastated but shortly after I hooked another monster around 3ft,This one also managed to escape when we where trying to grab him with the net.
I feel horrible right now,but i've caught some baitfish and I wil headout to see I'f one of these monsters is interested in a snack tonight!
I really hope I'll get another shot at that beast.

Yeah I know feeling, I still have flash backs of a four foot musky that got away at the boat. It happens to the best of us !

pray for my wallet... going to bass pro shops in the next hour

I was actually good. I got another Ugly Stik for catfish that I needed, a pack of gulp! shrimp because you can never have too much. And a pack of BPS brand speed craws with chartreuse claws that I want to try out at a very dark stained pond that I haven't quite figured out yet.

That being said I have written out a list of options for the speckled trout combo I want to get and am working on deciding what will be best. I came very close to buying one but I was good and decided to consider all options. Reel Options are between Daiwa Legalis, Penn Battle, Penn Fierce, Shimano Sahara, and Sedona. Rod Options between Penn Legion, Penn Allegiance, Team Daiwa T, Shimano Terramar, Ugly Stik Inshore Select, and an all star rod.

Heading out this Saturday on my kayak or on shore not sure yet but heading to the Delaware to see what I can catch. Hopefully I can catch some catfish. Maybe carp. Wish me luck! Gonna try my luck at a little method I saw on YouTube with worms. I've had a 5 gallon bucket full of worms for about 4 months now and I'm certain they've multiplied in that time and its a sort of a mini compost. Gonna take that down to the Delaware and see if those bring in any fish. If not gonna head to my pond and try out my new bass lures. Hope to get a slammer!

That's an easy choice for the rod combo go with the Penn Battle for $99 you can't get any better. You'll probably want the 3000 series. The reel is a considerably small reel but the best one on the market. Myself and two of my buddies have 6 between us and they're awesome. We use them from bass to flounder to dolphin. All are outfitted on st croix triumph rods. Only issue with them is they aren't made in Philadelphia. It's a must have product.

yeah i have decided on the battle. I am still struggling between the 2000 series and the 3000 series, I want to be able to sling 1/8oz bucktails a mile but that extra line capacity is also important.. Had something great happen today though :)

Went fishing with a friend and he and his dad do a good bit of heavy duty saltwater fishing, he told me he had a couple "old penns" they dont need anymore that i can have. He gave me an american made Penn 650 SS with a slammer rod and a Senator Special 114hlw 6/0 FO FREE. the 650 is ready to roll and I believe that the senator will only need one or two cheap parts to get working (needs a new lever and spring) STOKED!!

For you I'd go with the 3000. You'll be able to whip that buck tail out there and have the extra line with a 20lb braid. Those spools hold an enormous amount of line for the reels size. Now I'm a huge fan of shimano reels and a majority of my reels are made by them besides a few abu's an okuma and a few penns. If shimano was still putting the older stradic out I'd tell you to get that for $200 it's untouchable. Best reel I've ever put in my hands besides the Stella. I myself have a few old SS's varying in sizes I can't remember the number sizes but I know I have the smallest model and two of the larger ones. Another great reel to own. Smooth casting and I always bring one on a trip with me. The Penn collection wouldn't be complete without the charter special they're proven reels and work. Sadly I don't own any charter specials I either forked up for shimano TLD's or internationals. If I ever go out on my buddies boat we will crack the charter special out and troll it with and umbrella rig for some stripers
