Fishing season 2k14!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Finally got out on the ice last Sunday, and couldn't have picked a better day! The ice was about 12 inches thick and the weather was in the high 40s low 50s, so all you needed was a sweatshirt to keep warm on the lake! Had a personal record-breaking day with 4 fish landed and around 10 total tip-ups, we were having trouble landing fish. We managed to land a nice perch, 2 channel cats (never expected to catch them through the ice), and a really nice pickerel. My past record for most fish was 3 through the ice.

You'd be correct. Jan 2007 I was in a body brace, braces on both my arms, mouth wired shut with 26 broken bones and about 2 months from waking up from a 16 day coma.

that sounds fairly unpleasant.

Organized the office today. Sadly that is only about half my gear. My surf rods are too long and bigger rods are too fat for the racks and I have to get about three more racks to fit my other rods and reels!! And I still need more!!!

understatement of the year lol...that was the results of me being hit head on by an F-150 going the wrong way on the road. I was on my motorcycle doing nothing but the speed limit. Fun times...

JD7.62 I would not be happy having that many rods and having to respool because of age and memory in the line. That would be a waste of a day I think if that's only half of your gear lol.

As a guide I have several combos in sets of three. Plus I dont really like "do it all" combos, I like to have my gear for a specific task at hand.

Also having a buddy that owns a tackle shop really helps with the line!

I can imagine that it does. Being a guide it makes more sense.

I have 3 setups for fresh. Ultralite for getting baitfish, medium rod for live bait and light lures, medium-heavy with 30lb braid which is normally my do it all setup with an 8 bearing reel. Catfish, bass, and the huge shiners.

Salt I have 2. 30lb mono on a large large rod and reel for the bottom, 10lb mono on a lure setup.

Local creek getting stocked tomorrow, less than 24 hours until fishing! Unless it's still below freezing.

first salty trip of the year. mr. weatherman can bite me because we got beat like red-headed step children on the way out and back in the wind turned on, nice to get out there and get a tug though
