Fishing Season 2k15!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Was out stocking today for opening day, mainly 12-16" Rainbows but a lot more Browns than last year, about a quarter of the fish were browns and were 12-18". A few rainbows were 18"+ though. Put a half dozen palominos (xanthic rainbows) in as well. Fish commision got a picture of me reviving an 18" palomino which they said they'll put on the cover of their magazine.

Also stocked up for opening day, only cost me $110 for everything! Can't include my secret bait in the picture though. And got a nice big pair of forceps for my fish revival kit.

Thanks bro! If I run into any brownie eggs I'll let you know :). I normally stock trout just once a year because they always do it at 1:00 PM so it's a lot of retired old guys helping which is why they always look forward to me coming because I bring chest waders and am strong enough to carry 40ish trout halfway across the stream to get them in everyone's honey hole. I do stock all kinds of fish in some private bodies of water a few times a year though like my diving quarry.

Do you guys stock one brood stock each stocking or is that just something we do here?

They don't tell us. The hatchery biologists really just fill the truck with whatever fish they feel like that day. Opening day it's almost always rainbows, a good bit of browns, and a few palominos. Sometimes the schedule will say only rainbows and they bring us a truck full of all browns. Where my camp is in a part of the state where the water stays cool year round from mountain runoff they always only stock brooks, even though the schedule says all rainbows every time.

Was down in Kissimmee, FL for a couple weeks and did real well on the bass. Probably caught well over 100 in that time. Most ranging 2-4 pounds and a couple 7 and 8. Lost a couple that could have been wall hangers, but I'll never know. Good time but glad to be back in Indy.
