I had the exact same thing happen on my 125 a few months ago, actually it was on easter day, I cheacked my stand and it is dead level. I believe it was a manufacturer defect on mine as well, as my tank was only 6 months old at the time, but after buying a better quality tank this time I could see that the other tank was not made very well.

Every fish keepers nightmare. I have trouble going on vacations for more than a few days for fear that something is going to happen (leak, clogged filter, dead fish etc.)
That really sucks. I hope your fish make it and your insurance covers the damage.

this type of breaks makes me think twice about getting glass tanks and shelling extra moolah for those acrylics

Wow...I'm sorry to hear about your mishap. I also saw the pics on Mo's site and that is indeed a nasty crack. I'm really pulling through that your pair make it. Really brings awareness to the tanks I have inside my home on top of carpet

Question......you say the stand was level, but was the surface the tank sits on 100% flat with no gaps between the stand and the tank? Even when full? "Level" is not what is important. The tank being evenly supported is! Stress cracks and blow outs are easily caused by inadequate or uneven support, especially on large tanks.
