Would have never thought they could be found in cold areas.

It's one of only three Lizard species native to Minnesota

Hey, I have caught one that looks like that in Maryland! It was tiny...

I don't recognize the name.

FAIL......

im assuming blue tailed lizard/skink??? (not a good name)
scorpion?? (even worse)

ive had two of those, they're awesome

i caught both, tho they're not that easy to find, and i see more babies than adults

I use to have a five lined skink, a fat one too, got it from pj pets for $30

but it is very shy and quick, always try to escape the enclosure

so

I released it in the nearby forest / park (2 years ago)

and

I never seen it again

I've kept them. They're not difficult. Males are territorial and should not be kept together. They are mainly terrestrial/semifossorial but do like to climb as well; they prefer fairly large limbs or rocks and don't use narrow branches like similar-sized anoles or geckos will. They spend a lot of time beneath cover.

I kept my pair in a ten gallon with soil substrate. The tank was kept at room temp with basking spot at about 78-80 F. They need moderate humidity and good ventilation. I fed mine standard live prey (crickets, fruit flies, wax worms, mealworms, small earthworms); I supplemented with small wild-caught inverts. My female laid eggs once, but none hatched.

This is the only species of Reptile in Connecticut.

Apperently they are fairly common along the Connecticut river, but I have never seen or caught one, despite how much time my lyme-ridden corse spends in the forest.
