Louie, have you seen any live peacock bass lately?

I never saw them Dec to Feb to begin with much at all because even average nights in 60s drives them deep but ofcourse wont kill them as day temps in 80s/high 70s still keeps water livable for them.
I have caught them (small ones) but never see them swimming around like you do in warmer months ESP summer.

I have only seen lots dead one's and lake behind my brother in laws house is littered with dead PB,etc I havent been there but he told me.
I have lost every green anole in yard and in 3 days of warmth have not seen a single one in area and pretty much everything else other than few house geckos ,brown anoles and cuban tree frogs (amazed they lived but not green natives)

Reverse said it well -

did you here there gonna stop snook season for a year

Yes they had massive die off .
Like others have pointed out to me the PB who were in deep canals lived as did other cichlids but such a huge die off that the numbers will take yrs to recover.

Now add that by Tamiami canal by Glades which is where most who fish for PB in Spring/Summer catch and keep and will continue to do so and the numbers will truly take a beating.
They even "fish" with cast nets for them which is illegal :(.

I hope FWC sends people there daily during day to enforce fishing regulations (they never do)

I just read it . The 2 week relentless "freezing" cold was to much for even natives . They would have made it if not for the last 2 days of drops at night to 30s . At that point the massive die offs took place.

I can't help but wonder, with the high amount of dead fish in the water-if their bodies have an impact in fouling the water???

I dont know but since so much water in Miami with canals all over, etc. I would think the fish die off wouldnt affect the water.
I cant fathom in Glades it making slightest impact.

Canals can be filthy to begin with yet cichlids thrive but Glades is clean. Gators (hit the jackpot) ,vultures, turtles should take care of much of it.

Fish float they wind up near canal edge the birds are eating them around here.

awwwww :(
i heard about here but i never got to see her. iv gone many many times there.
