Flowerhorn female's first litter! Unfortunately, eggs might not have made it.

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Just be patient...it’ll work out eventually. You still have a lot of healthy looking eggs there and a day or more to wait
It's should prove that both of em are fertile. If either one of em were infertile the eggs would be white by the first day. The fact that the eggs have color to them means that both parents are fertile and able to produce offspring. As said previously tho, it'll take 3-4 days for the eggs to hatch so your about half way there. But yeah if ya don't have live food just use some powdered fish food and they should eat that once they are free swimming.
No worries. Eggs aren't worrying me anymore. Dad is. He's developed HITH some how. Thanks for rthe info as well, I'll see how it goes and keep you updated. 2nd whole day tomorrow so I will see. Do you have any advice for HITH medication, ect?

Not off hand no. Most I've heard as to try to keep the water as clean as possible. I would recommend starting a new post and ask others what they use, for meds, for HITH.

Just got medication and went to my local aquarium. Treating today, asked someone already as well. Will see if I get a response. Feeling really upset. Although 2 eggs has hatched and are now wriggling (hundreds more, no black dot but plenty of clear transparent eggs still. 1 with dots not hatched) I can’t help but not really care about having a successful batch, but rather looking after my big guy.. just feel so guilty. Maybe I shouldn’t have paired him up with her this time and let him have a rest, especially for it being his first time. Still responsive and will come to me but just won’t eat..

Wrigglers are at the back so it's hard to catch with my camera with the glare + blue water + gunk on the bottom, going to siphon it out CAREFULLY. i hope...
These eggs I realised have black dots, but have not yet hatched. Perhaps it's just debris? I don't know. I'm not sure if they hatch all at the same time, or if more will hatch tomorrow. What do you think?

Oh yeah, the wrigglers randomly stop wriggling sometimes and it scares me. ):
Big daddo is sick still.. giving him medication currently.

Are you sure he has HITH? It doesn’t happen overnight...most like just an injury or missing scales from fighting or bumping something. You might want to post a pic before panicking and medicating unnecessarily. Medications can often do more harm to their liver and kidneys.

Good water changes and parameters, vitamin c, and better nutrition helps with HITH. Post a pic of the male and congrats on the fry.

Hey mate. Will post when I get home, currently out right now. He has white poop and is just sitting in the corner of the tank not eating. Has small scars on his head but that could be just from aggression with female as I thought at the start. He just became super pale and doesn’t eat at all, has a green poo recently that’s attached by a string which I assume is constipation. If I come to the tank he’ll come say hi but now he just turns and looks at me then goes back to the heater. Still follows the mirror when I play with him too. I dunno, just got worried I guess. Maybe he’s fatigued from breeding as he’s still new. It happened after I took out the eggs from his tank. Maybe started on Wednesday night but we didn’t take notice until Thursday. 3 days so far I guess. I still have lots to learn... I’m just worried I guess. Anyways, will post a pic in 30 minutes

Alright, 3rd times a charm. Female just laid her dozens of eggs. Proven fertility of male I hope this succeeds. I made a huge mistake. Took out the eggs to early from the male (17 hours of staying with the eggs) and people say I should have let him been in there for 3 days before taking it out. Is it okay to put the eggs back in with the male? Or too late now
