Flowerhorn growout

5-10 gallon water changes daily with a 50% weekly seems…excessive. It’s my opinion, and what I experience with my flowerhorn so take it with a grain of salt. I do weekly water changes at between 30%-50% and have no water issues, I also test my water weekly. Again I know you may be experiencing different circumstances but daily water changes seems crazy to me. Just my two cents.
I water change daily only 10/15 gallons, I do it mainly to clear out his mess he makes and it only takes 5 mins instead of doing a large one once a week and taking an hour or so.

Yup draining 10g with a hose (gravity siphon), removing food/waste from the bottom takes less than 3 minutes, and then filling backup, a bit quicker so no more than 7 minutes a day for me.

Got 80$ Of substrate and mixed 2 bags of gravel with 1 bag of sand and I for 1 am absolutely in love with the look of this. I decided to mix substrate so that waste sits ontop and doesn’t go under the gravel as much because of the sand and the gravel with allow tons of good bacteria to thrive. Tank is still dirty from adding it all but here it is. 492023CD-911A-418D-8E07-28E2B2FA7970.jpeg
