Flowerhorn in 125Gallon

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
ok i dont know if u noticed but flowerhorn as adults dont get along with anytank mates mostly all.

the jewel convict and texas have a chance.

y would u say a red-bellied pirahna . they are even worse defendin themselves if ur throwin 1 in there. they are weak without others.

Whatever I have has to be aggressive enough to not be eaten, but not so aggressive as to try and eat it. Cheap would be good, so when it invariably does get eaten I can put in more. I just can't stand the sight of older large cichlids in tanks alone that look so incredibly bored.

[and preferably not entirely destroy the decor ;p]

since it depends on the individual Flowerhorn...some are so psycho that you need to keep them alone.
Ahhhh, hence the reason mine got it's name..........Loco:D He is one hyped up FH,all alone and he prolly likes it.

So I added a little something ;) and the results have been good. The flowerhorn definitely chases it around, but it's not continuous. Sometimes (s)he'll ignore the hap completely. It came from a VERY over stocked tank of larger mixed cichlids at the LFS, and doesn't seem too bothered. The flowerhorn is too fixated on eating shrimp and other fish in the tank right now to fight much. ;P

The babies from the same batch as this FH are still about 1.75" at the L
FS, this guy/girl/lawlsterile is now at around 3.25~3.5 TL

Enjoy ;P

whoa he has grown. im not trying to see who beats who but who will calm him down (thats what i meant).

yea try mbuna they are aggressive and try jewels they are really successful with larger fish. im tryna suggest you to get more fish so only one does not get picked on. look at that one person with 350 gallons of pure fury. his tank is full of cichlids overstocked. you could defenetly get more fish if u dont want that one african cichlid to get jacked up. more targets Equals = less aggresion

Yep, that's how the LFSs get away with so many crazy cichlids in one tank. So-far this is working ok, will just have to keep an eye on it :)

I love how quickly this fish grows! Not as dramatic as the pleco though... wow. At anyrate, flowerhorn;

Slowly starting to get more intense. :)

Nice FH....I say you throw in a school of Cloan Loaches. My Flowerhorn leaves them alone, but that could be because they were there first.

With plenty of hiding spaces and rearrangment of the tank, they should be ok.

Cool fh, but stop power feeding her. In that big tank she will grow nicely. It looks like a short body RD, ZZ. Try to add some color to her.
