Hi everybody, I just wanted to get some info on FHs. I was thinking about picking some up this coming weekend. I know that they get big, but are they aggressive, what size tank, any tankmates, food, etc... Thanks in advance.

Flowerhornrus.com and flowerhornusa.com.. both good forums to join.. and I would say minimum would be 40 gallon, one that's 4 feet long at least.. but I would recommend at least a 55.. just because.. even a 55 is small.. some people recommend a 75.. and this is all for 1 FH.. if you want more, you need bigger.. they are not very good community fish.. so, don't try to get a lot and keep 'em as a community tank.. and plus, if they are alone, they grow out more beautifully..
If you're getting fry, just make sure it's from high quality parents.. because with the fry, you can't tell what you'll get, really.. if you're getting one that's already showing color.. well, it's an easier pick.. though, fry are usually cheaper.. paintsn, he has a pretty nice Thai Malau for sale. If you're interested, you can also look at his thread in the Marketplace.. he's a good guy.. and he sells Amazone, also.. a very high grade food from Thailand made for Flowerhorns. I get my food from him.. he's also the admin of Flowerhornrus.com

Alright, thank you. I'll check out those websites and that thread... I have a couple spare 75s and a 55 sitting outside and in the shed. I was looking for something to fill them with.

You need at least a 75 for a fully grown flowerhorn. They are mean as hell in most cases and will breed with many different cichlasoma sp. This is a good place for advice, but do some reading on the web. I love my FH and would suggest that you get one. I have hand fed mine from the day I got her at around 3 months. She's given me 2 batches of fry in less that 1 year and has grown 4 inches in that time. They are tough fish with a tough attitude... that's really all you need to know.
I have a 6" midas, would it breed w/ that maybe? I like tough fish w/ attitudes, thats why I'm on this sight...
