Flowerhorn white/clear poop week three

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
This is day two of the Neo plex. I can't really say how much was ingested. Certainly not the full amount.

Today I tried a trace of Neoplex in his syringe feeding. Unfortunately, he has become a pro at spitting out his food. The poo is clear, I can only assume it isn't poo and is some sort of discharge. There was more of it than usual this morning. I've now stopped the Neoplex as directed.( I got it mixed at between 25-40mgs.) I treated the one extra day because of the question as to how much he actually ingested.

He still seems active and healthier than I would have guessed. If not cured and still not eating, would a combined treatment help? Also, he might be tempted to eat feeders if they annoy him. I've got some in a quarantine tank that I was going to release into one of my koi ponds. They'd very likely be disease free....I've avoided cross contamination by having seperate nets and buckets, etc for all of my tanks. All of my other fishes, including four other flowerhorns and one midas are doing very well. I don't think that killing the sick fish is yet necessary. I'd like to keep trying until he is cured or becomes too weak.

Man this poor FH is still sick even after using metro, prazi, kana/neoplex?

Maybe try an antibiotic formula from Seachem like Sulfathiazole or Polyguard which contains sulf and other meds.

Hope he makes It..
If not...time for a new/fresh FH!

I've had this guy since he was a baby. I still have LOADS of metro and prazi. The last time he got sick. Years ago. He had the hanging white poo and wouldn't eat. It was easily cured, but he would only then eat out of my hand for a few weeks before he came around. It was Metro that cured him. What about used in combination? I'll do nothing for a few more days...

You can feed metro and have prazi in the tank. Tetra Parasite Guard has both ingredients (plus Diflubenzuron and Acriflavine) in the tablets

Honestly at this point, I would either try the antibiotics I mentioned, or the Tetra Parasite Guard mentioned above; but make sure it is in a small quarantine tank. This would be your final route

I am still optimistic. I'm giving him a few days to settle from the last round. He still seems very alert and yesterdays feeding went very well with almost no food spit out. At least he got some food in him. I haven't seen any clear poo/whatever in two days now. The last time I did, it was a large amount. I'm hopeful that maybe its gone? Probably wishful thinking at this point. He is absolutely huge. He wouldn't fit in a 20 gallon tank. (I don't have a tank smaller than 29) Any meds I give him would have to be in his 100 gallon tank. This has made the treatments expensive.

Friday, today. Yesterday he again took a monster size clear poo. The syringe feeding continues every other day. He's still alert and active.

man I hope your flowerhorn turn out to be okay =_= sucks when mine was pooping white clear poo too. I gave him 3% epsom salt injection into his esophagus and he seem to get better after 5 days treatment because he wasn't eating.
