Thanks. These are Ecuadorian f1. They came from Jason's (freshwaterpredators) wild pair. I think he bought them from Rapps back when wild Ecuadorian festae were around.
Love these fish! Being able to dedicate 6 ft to a mature pair of this species is great and despite how many keep them, or how popular they are, they are truly a sight. Really has me marginalizing the other CA/SA's that I'm keeping. Time to broaden my gaze a bit and see what gems the rest of the world beholds;)

They look awesome Ed!!! I've tracked down a male from my bloodline to pair with one of my females and I'm hoping he'll turn out like his brothers:) great looking pair and good luck with spawning them.
 
More of the male. If he keeps growing at this pace, he'll be a foot in no time. He eats and eats and eats... (please excuse the crappy photos:))

He and the female are still in 4/6 of a divided, six foot, 220 gallon tank and getting along fine with 9 silver dollars as dithers. No fry after two tries though:confused:.
 
WOW! Stunning pair ED! I love the strong cranial profile both male and female posses here. Most definitely my style of Festae. Good work with them.

They've decided to spawn again. Hopefully the male gave the eggs a proper basting this time around. Fingers crossed!
I don't want to disturb them with the flash and its impossible to take photos in this tank without it, so I'll post a vid soon.... the male is starting to get his breeding stripes and the female is blood red with green flanks; quite a sight!
