i agree with abnormal, however you say she isnt eating.... what is she craping out then?

i don't think the gravel is a issue i have had this gravel with rays it is way finer than gravel you see in pictures in doctor ross's book. some times my rays refuse food or have a light appetite i just watch them closely and up water changes if things don't change or get worse in about a 2 week period of time then i worry.watch your water quality some times removing a large amount of gravel can change the bio load. i think if the substrate was irratating the ray you would know.good luck

She eats.. just not alot. I think I posted it in the first post that she eats like 1 nightcrawler/1 piece of shrimp every other day.

Yeah.. thats why I did not want to remove all of it at once. If its not the substrate then why is her disc pink?! :nilly::nilly::nilly::nilly::nilly::nilly:

Like mentioned earlier, if it was my ray I'd Prazi it. Its your ray and you can do whatever you want. I've lost enough to know when its time to take action. It allready has diminished appetite, an obvious problem. If that isn't cause for action then what else needs to happen before taking action? Prazi is so safe and cheap compared to replacing a ray its stupid not to use it if you even suspect somethings not right. Even if the ray didn't need it there's no negative effects from it except the $16 you're out. Doesn't impact bio or sensative fish. Pretty cheap insurance in my opinion.

I've used and am using the peace river gravel with my rays now and have never had any problems. My flower isn't currently on it but was with no problems. My flower was bigger than yours at the time but I don't think the gravel itself is the culprit but maybe the depth you have it at. My depth is about 1/3 of yours and I have big rays in there constantly stirring in up. I think what your doing by removing some slowly is the way to go but I don't feel you need to remove it all. Once your ray gets bigger you'll be able to add more as the big rays really stir up the gravel. As far a using prazi right now that would be a personal choice. I've only used prazi once and had rays that were eating stop for a couple days other than that I've never used it even on my wildcaughts. I would just make sure you do a really good gravel vac, remove some 2/3 of your gravel slowly, keep the lights out and tank partially covered and give it time.

I don't believe it is the texture of the gravel per say either. Depth maybe. I use a
rougher gravel than that and have no issues with my rays. But I only maintain about
1/2 inch or so of it, and vac it once a week.

Alright.. I will leave the remaining sand and see how it goes. I removed some tankmates and will take out a good amount of my water today and treat the tank with prazi.

I hope she pulls through.

are you referring to outer edges of th disc being pink or the under side of the disc? removing some of tank mates was a safe idea less stress for the ray.hope it turns around for you.

found another sample of feces today.. This definitely looks normal doesnt it? Sort of a relief to see this kind of crap.

Lets see how she does tomorrow.

Waste appears normal to me. For her to be producing waste like that, she has to be
eating some foods.
