Anyone tried it?

That is basically the same thing as I got with the exception of digital readout, and that unit has a 10amp fuse...might be just fine, give it a go...jschall;4020991; said:this one any good? http://www.dtpetsupplies.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=1957

Alright, my previous heater (which was a 250W visi-therm stealth) heated this tank to 82F completely fine. This E300 is supposedly a 300W heater (that or it has a VERY misleading name) and the temperature has stayed between 78.5 and 81, even though it is SET to 82. I've tried two of these, and now I've tried pulling a powerhead from another tank and pointing it straight at the heater for a day.
I can see that the element is turning off even though the temperature is lower than set.
Either I got 2 defective heaters in a row (unlikely) or these heaters are defective by design (translation: ****ty.)
I WANT to see this heater work properly, because it IS the coolest heater I've seen. However, if I'm going to be waking up every morning, seeing a blue light on my heater and rushing over to make sure my fish aren't freezing, it's just not going to happen. What I've seen so far does not impress me, and doesn't exactly make me want to buy a fancy Fluval G6 canister filter. No bueno.
This thing is going back to the store for good unless you can come up with some kind of solution.

Just because the thermostat is the same type as the Stealth, does not mean that the tolerances and quality control are the same.
they have an excellent reputation for quality.
some of mine are 8 years running and still working fine.

I don't think the quality now is what it was then
Just my 2 cents![]()
