Loving this tank. So nice to have it in the work office for viewing. Keeps the sanity.
When all else fails, snails and crabs do the heavy lifting on algae. My astreas are better at algae control than my weekly water changes and scrapings ever did.
I run about 4 hours of all lights and 3-4 of blue but as you can see the rock stays fairly covered. I need to reduce the lights a little more and add a few more snails. Definitely a balancing act
I stopped caring about algae on rocks. It hasn’t been terrible since the hair algae outbreak of 2020. Looked pretty cool all over the rocks. The glass is my main concern, but it slows down after about 5-6 months. I do 12 hours of mostly whites, almost no blue (I like the look of white light over blue, despite it being algae food).
Coralline algae is finally dominating, a good sign.
