Fluval Evo Saltwater Startup

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
It is natural. As they age the female will always dwarf the male. The female is more aggressive and steals food from the male, allowing it to grow larger. It is just how it works, not much you can do about it.
You can purchase them like that and there will be less fighting most likely, just as long as there isn’t too great a size difference when you get them where one will be injured.

Do you guys think it is beneficial to have two of the clowns together or does it not matter?
It really doesn't matter. But if you get two get them at the same time and small in size, also same size. Getting more mature ones from different batches in a larger size could result in two females and that's not good. All clowns are born male, the dominant ones become female. Usually they will become female if they are alone also. I did get some from breeding that were an aborent pattern that I liked. I separated them from the others and kept them thinking to maybe breed the pattern. Maybe like 10 in the 5 years I bred them and maybe two out of those stayed smaller.... maybe male? The larger ones I tried to match them with killed the smaller ones. But it would happen so rarely it was hard to get two at the same time. Match making grown clowns is difficult.

I would think a majority are female and only the best males can pass the traits etc,. My buddy is having trouble matching his clown with another so that makes sense, I feel like the only way to do is it to buy them together young.. preferably already hosting an anemone ?

I’m so excited, after a 6 week fallow my clowns get to go back in for good this week! Just after I get around to cleaning the tank...and scraping some palys off of a trumpet...and gluing some corals to rocks...the fun just never ends...

What species is that? Long tentacle anemone or torch coral? It’s beautiful!

Somewhere on the evil photobucket website maybe......they switched to a pay site and blocked access unless you were willing to pay some monthly fee for a year minimum. I got two weeks notice of the change which I missed because my computer crashed. I tried to negotiate with them but the only response I got was you got notified it's not our fault your computer was down. Oh and they also said something to the effect that any content hosted on their servers was signed over to them and technically was their property not mine. Bottom line trust no one and read the fine print that we all ignore.

Long Tentacle - Green!

Kind of amazing how plans can go sideways with this hobby. My original intent was a pair of clowns.....just added this instead of a second clown. I am happy with the current stock and won’t add anything else except clean up crew.
