Oddball, One off my bigger LFS's have the fx5 for $250.00, Is it worth it ????????...............................as long as I zip tie the out takes / intakes that is!!!!:D

Is it all that it is cracked up to be!!!??????

Man that sux. I hope the rest of your fish make it through okay. I was thinking of a fx5 but maybe ill do a diy wet dry or sump i live in an apt and i am sure my neighbors would not appreciate 200 gal of water coming down the walls.

Up til today, the filter was working great. I was just about to order another one. You can find them cheaper than from your lfs. I got mine from ebay for $199 plus $36/shipping and avoided the sales tax in "suck me dry" Mississippi.

I'm happy with mine. It's wierd you made this post, as I have the metal ties and nylon zip ties on mine. While assembling the filter, I had a feeling that something like this could/would happen, so I went the extra mile and took the safe route. Now I'm happy I did.
 
The outtake of my eheim 2028 cracked and i had a mini flood...................goes to show that even the "top of the line" canisters scr#w up sometimes.............luckily bigals.com took care of me and sent a brand new connection for free..............it was a hairline crack that took me a while to find..................I thought that it wasa loose tube fitting.........
