So, after reading Opiate's thread, I do not expect any media to come with my FX5. :irked: What should I fill it with to get the best out of it?

I have read somewhere the ceramic balls you get for the Eheim filters is a better choice. Would you get more suface area with them than you would with the Fluval 'noodles'??

all advice appreciated... :)

took the words right out of my mouth with that question. Also, whats the deal with the polishing pads?

pot scrubbies?? Maybe something lost in translation, but what is a pot scrubbie??

pot scrubbers are the things used to scrub pots...lol. But they work great for biofiltration, since they have big surface area. And dirt cheap.

Do you mean Eheim Ehfisubstrat Pro? i believe they do have more surface area than the Fluval media, i think its 18,300 sq ft of surface area per U.S Gal of media, but dont quote me on that..
