Fluval Fx5 on 47gal? Overkill?

the quality between the 04/05 series filters and the Fx5 is pretty different. The 04/05 series is not that great in terms of quality and engineering. Although they tend to be reliable to some. My 304 casing finally broke a month ago after being in service for 11-13 years.

The Fx5s quality I think from what I have seen is much better and very different from the 04/05 series.

If I had room, I would buy a Fx5 for my 30 gallon and throttle it down.

Sweet thanks. My current filters do a pretty good job keeping the water clear but the media is expensive and doesn't last very fast...lots of time cleaning constantly to keep things under control.

went ahead and ordered a 405, just trying to be as economical as possible right now so cost of the filter plus media and then the electricity it cost to run it every month...trying to pay for a house and go to school so yeah.
