I've learned, its a bad idea to plug in a fluval fx5, and forget to attach any of the lid fasteners down. ;)

or turn it on without attaching the outlet hose

but its great for those times when you want to soak your carpet in tank water

I find it soooo dam easy to clean out and put back together, you can do it in a hurry no problem.......
Sometimes when i finish i sit there and go through what i did, just incase i did something wrong

lol! I've got 3 & I do the same thing. I rinse their sponges out once a month now and it goes so fast I'm left wondering what I missed :) For those who think it's such a time consuming hassle, I suspect you're doing something wrong. I drain the canister down with the drain spout while the python is in the tank itself (I run the drain spout hose out the door). Then just unscrew the lid, lift out the trays, set in a 5 gal bucket, rinse the sponges in fast running water and put them back in the canister. I've got well water which greatly simplifies things. But it still shouldn't be something that takes any amount of time once you've done it a time or 2.

for my 2080 i just un plug the tap then roll it out on its wheels

has the fx5 got wheels ?

most things made in Germany with wheels are the best on the planet :D

still double the money for wheels?
eheim's are good filters. but FX5's have the price advantage

HAHAHA T1 ran out of things to argue about on the fx5 so he picks on the fac tit doesn't have wheels...hahahha

If I had the eheim 2080, I wouldn't be using the wheels unless it had a long handle so I could wheel it around like a suitcase @ the airport.

I have done that!! Haha. I felt so stupid after. O well, is a conversation piece on this forum.

^^^hahahaha lets argue about filters.....only on )^(FK

You don't NEED wheels with the FX5. It's so easy to service that you don't have to haul it off somewhere else-which you obviously must need to do with your 2080 or there'd be no use for wheels :)
Just teasin' you :-)

i love my fx5, my tank runs silently. good idea to crank those down next time. not to mention that it was 200 dollars cheaper than an eheim. burn....

Ehein vs. FX5: They're both great filters.... I'm currently running an FX5 and I love it. The orange rubberized screw-downs for the lid can be a little finicky but otherwise, I've found it robust and very reliable. I'm currently doing some mods to the tubing (upgrading away from the ribbed tubing to 1" ID line) and it is very accomodating.
