Not trying to start $h!t here but there have been quite a few threads on this topic and it seems that you don't like Eheim at all. May I ask why? Just curious.

Maybe it's due to the over pricing and poor build quality :( , I've had a couple of Eheim's and had problems with them both, broken float on one, handle on twin hose conection very week and snap easy, you see loads of them on ebay with this problem going cheap, mine snapped off the other week, and yes it will be on Ebay next week! no i didn't pull it that hard, I always try to be gentle with Eheim's as they seem to be very delicate. the problem being, you cant buy a float on it's own you have to buy the hole casing, very expensive, and when i got a quote for the twin tap connector my local dealer said, Yes sir we have loads in stock there always breaking! about £30.00.... stuff that. Eheim's seem to be the Alfa Romeo of the filter world. everyone wants one, there gorgous, they work well! they break down there expensive to repair. I used to use fluval and thought i was moving up in the world when i first bought Eheim but now going back to a good strong build Fluval the Volkswagen of the filter world :woot: Hooo Ray for Fluval :woot: I feel the Fx5 is the begining of something very good! :clap

Oh I bought it from Aquakadabra, it will be on my doorstep Monday :woot:

Like i said I will do a setting up reveiw, Seems to have caused some good conversation, thats good to see!

To put an end to all this FLUVAL Vs EHEIM befor it gets out of hand i think the FLUVAL FX5 will do great for what phishypheny needs in his 100gal. Which was what he was wanting to know really.

That's correct, It will do my 100 Gallon a treat and will also play a big role when I swap to a 6x2x2 . All products have pro's and con's, But I'm dead excited about getting my new fx5, it's going to replace my eheim 2227 as it was never ment for this size tank but has helped out along side my trickle sump filter until i could get something bigger.

So thanks for that everyone! youve been great :clap
I will post a link to ebay sale of my eheim 2227 if anyone is interested?

I will take some pics of setting up procedure and note any problems i have with the install and running of my fx5, i will try not to be biased :naughty:

Good luck with it mate it's a great filter !

Just one thing!! So you don't worrie when you set it up. When i set mine up at started fine then all of a sudden it stopped well i sh*t myself thinking it was broke but thats not the case every 24hrs the filter shuts down and releases trapped air in it and when you set it up it stops for about 3minutes or so then starts back up by it's self so be aware of that mate ok. it's all in the Instruction book so when you get it it will explain it much better.

Gook luck and enjoy..... i am. ;)

Its not that I dont like them, I found out early on here that a lot of folks where just too loyal to Eheim, closed minded about new products, and disrespectful in the process. So what would you do in those circumstances ?
Now too many folks are using the FX5 with great results and certainly the momentum is clearly on the FX's side. So I no longer need to defend it or myself...
and proved myself correct yet again...

I agree whole heartedly with this point. So many people will shun these filters without even seeing them in action to the point where they invent problems with them as a reason not to buy.

facts? sure - 25l capacity compared to 5.9 :D

What's the point in the added flowrate without the media capacity to back it up?

Like I said, from experience fluval filters listed as having twice the output are no more powerful.

If anyone has both filters, do a test - see which filter fills up a large bucket the quickest.
