ima pick up a filter for my 150... currenty have a crappy emperor 400 on there with a diy pipe overflow. i recently did a water change and boy... there was a good 1/2 pund of debris under the gravel... i do water changes every other week and i only got one jardini. which will rain champ?
Fluval ! Eheim ! Rena !

Awww... where's Marineland? If I have to choose, then I choose Rena... with the condition that you'll at least check out the Marineland!

Edit: XP4 is great. Less clogging, less randomly-not-functioning than FX5, IMO.

Looks to me that your problem is you don't have a gravel vac. None of the filters are going to pull waste out of your gravel.

I use rena's myself but not going to debate filters over personal preference.

Darn good point... none of these are going to eradicate the need for regular tank maintenance... not even a good ole' Marineland!

Get yourself a PYTHON and clean your gravel during your water changes. I prefer Fluval only because that's all i have. I have an FX5 on my 125g and a 405 on my 75g. I'm sure there are many good filters out there. I've seen and heard excellent reviews on Eheim and Rena filters.
