Foam in between my tank and stand?

If it is uneven, it will push on the uneven parts. Tank manufacturers will void the warranty if you put foam under their glass tank. Make sure your stand is level, and you won't have any problems. The only support a glass tank needs is around the edge of it. I don't know why one would even consider putting foam under one. It seems like someone thought it would be good idea, and for some reason others have done it. Why would it need a cushion? Makes no sense to me.

The manufacturers of my 180 gave a warranty on the tank on the proviso that the SUPPLIED foam was used as a base between tank and stand. Every tank I have ever bought that didnt have a floating bottom was sold with the instruction to put foam underneath

So you're telling me the horizontal supports under my 2400x1200 footprint aquarium are a complete waste of time and the 15mm piece of glass would happily support nearly two tons of water over that area while only being supported around it's perimeter?

I'm no physicist/engineer, but I feel a lot more comfortable knowing that there are five 100x50x5mm steel beams supporting the base of my aquarium, especially when I'm standing in it...

All these people from other countries thinking a glass tank needs foam under it. Wonder what the connection is?? :nilly:

I'm sure that you are right. I'm sure that all these tank manufacturers make it up for poops and giggles.

what difference does it make what country your from lol?.. it is what it is. I doubt I need to explain it again and I don't really want to, nor I doubt, do these other members want to either im sure. The point is, foam is definitely helpful and so, will go underneath my tank.
