Food smells HORRIBLE

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
From everything I've read so far, you guys are giving the OP great information. Info that's more important than the way the food smells. I've used Massivore for quite some time and it's not that smelly imo. More so than NLS but def not so bad that I'd make a thread about it lol.

i've never used these products. i'm curious, what does it smell like? can it be described? back when i used to fish for channel catfish, i often used stink bait because it attracted catfish. does massivore smell anything like that? i've been considering trying massivore, but . . .

Honestly I can hardly smell it unless I put it right up to my nose and even then it's not that bad.

I have to agree. Glad other advice shared...fish food smells?
So does the food that my neighbor makes, lot worse than the fishy food.
All fish food from flakes on up have some sort of smell to them..but not anything that should make a room stink. For that Id say you arent doing enough vacuuming of the gravel or your filters are insufficient/dirty.

Massivore tastes fine to me. If you keep it in the fridge you'll never smell it at all. If you keep all of your fish foods sealed in the fridge they won't expire as quickly.

:ROFL::ROFL::ROFL: Thanks. I needed a laugh!

you know what i would take a bet on?

its just you. (as in. you)
your nose and your opinion of the food smell can't be helped. you hate the smell. thats really all that can be said about it lol theres nothing wrong with that. your nose and mind just react to it in such a cruel way.

most people think fishfood in general stinks. i smell raw crap all the time catching/raising samoan crabs and bating the traps with fish entrails.

but neither of those compare to the AWFUL smell of a tarp being unrolled. you ever smell that before? smells like roadkill baby-butt.

its all just opinion. sucks that you hate the smell of the food you must use to feed the fish you keep though =(.

In my opinion, these are my fish. I want to know levels. I don't want "near perfect," because that's not perfect. I want my fish to have the best life possible. Therefore, I spend the forty bucks on test kits. It's nothing compared to what I've spent to keep these fish. And it's totally worth it.

you guys, stop bashing him just yet..

what if he works at/near the petstore?

say he works at a mall in or near the petstore where he drives to work every day anyway?

its one thing to be the ignorant one who needs correcting in his ways, but for those of you who like to spot them out, be SURE you have no ignorance yourselves. and always be open minded.

besides.. if hes the one making the trips weekly (and not you) to get his water tested, im sure he'd figure out pretty fast that the gas prices exceeding the cost of a kit and that buying one would be wise. or if he takes public transport if he ever gets tired of taking the time for this. all this provided that he doesn't work near/live near the petstore and he takes his own time out of the day to do this, which we don't know yet.

all we can do (for any web forum member) is trust what they are saying. Trust that he does know what he's doing because really, if he doesn't. all will come to pass on each's own account anyway. nothing you could have done better than give help and information. which Bashing out of an itchy trigger finger on a touchy subject is not.

What? You don't taste your fish foods? I don't like flake because it just dissolves, but pellets each have different angles on flavor. It's nice to know what the fish might be tasting. And maybe why a certain food is not being eaten. Like my shrimp pellets. Nobody was eating them, so I tried one. It wasn't even good by rotten fish parts standards. It was totally foul, and not in that carnivorous, 'delicious carcass' way, but in a toxic 'nothing will ever eat this' way.
