In my opinion the best course of action is to return your fish back to the store and look into other fish which will be more interactive and fun to keep like maybe an Oscar cichlid or a Jaguar cichlid or many other wonderful fish out there Arapaima are not the best fish in the world and are pretty dangerous hope you listen to the advice we are giving and will defiantly have a better fish keeping experience.

Well thanks all for the advice I guess. I might just grow it big enough to make a nice meal out of it and send all of you guys pictures. I hear they are good eating.

look there is no way you can slow the growth rate of any fish AND keep it healthy, you got a couple of months till it outgrows your 200 then you can move it into the pond you got, after that you should really think about selling it... or like anarekist said.. eating it

I don't know, I am thinking about making a new post and have that as my Title and I want you , Anar and Krich to all give me advice

Sorry,I wouldn't be much help then as I'm not accustomed to eating tropical aquarium fish:)

I would not buy a fish without knowing anything about it again... The closest thing I have done to that is purchuse an assorted sa cichlid and i didn't know exact species but i knew it was an acura and I knew a little bit about some of them and i asked the lfs worker for his opion and helped rule out chocalte cichlids beacause its bright coloration...not saying you did something wrong just giving some advice that may be helpful it the future:). If you can't get a massive 10x5x3.5-4 pond I would sell it or give it away...
