Thats because you are uneducated on them and have obviously NEVER experienced or owned one. ANY dog can be mean at ANY time, its part of the risk taken when accepting the responsibility of an ANIMAL. Some of these people's fish on here are more dangerous than 99% of the Pitbulls I know. The person that should be blamed for a pitbulls actions is his/her owner. The owner is who allows it to think that certain things are okay when they are truly not acceptable in society, thus giving ALL pitbulls a bad name instead of the owners that neglect, mistreat, or wrongly train their dog.

My brother-in-law has 2 bluenose pits (husband & wife :) ) and I honestly have never seen more well behaved dogs in my entire life. You can ring the doorbell 2000 times and you will NEVER hear a peep out of them, they are introduced to new people all the time and you would think they had known them their whole lives. The first time I met them within the minute it took me to walk from the front door to the couch they had already decided I was their new best friend and I sat down and they both jumped up on the couch and just laid on top of me. They are just big ole' teddy bears.

OP thanks for posting, maybe it will change someones opinion or at least show them a little bit of light.

you know blue nose pit isn't a name or breed right? it's just dilluted black.

I thought diluting black made grey? First you can make a primary color out of secondaries + white and now this? Munsell, what have you done?!?!

If you want to see some serious jaw pressure check out hyacinth macaws. Their bite pressure is twice as strong as a pit's, and the beak is much sharper than their teeth. It hurts, a lot.

, DID I EVEN STATE MY OPINION OF PITS?
do you even know? You some kind of mind reading genius? Trying real hard here to not insult your intelligence.

You think that pits are the only animals that are abused and mistreated? Well news flash they are not and no reason why me seeing pics of this abuse would change my opinion of this animal/breed?

Maybe before you go off acting like this and drawing conclusions to your assumptions, try asking me what my opinions is. :duh:

All the bad talk about pits is from the press. There are more bites from stupid little dogs but you don't hear anything about it because a band aid can cover it up. I have a 17 month old son and have two pit bulls who are amazing with him they follow him around the house and if he gets near anything that will harm him they put themselves between him and the harm. I will never own another dog they are the most loyal and friendly dogs i've ever owned. The only thing you have to keep an eye out for with them is stealing your seat on the couch or them thinking they're an 80 pound lap dog. Like I said it's all about what the press wants to hype up in this generation and it's been pit bulls but they don't tell you all the good, Like in World war 1 a pit bull named stubby was the un official mascot of the 102nd infantry division and actually saved the live of most of the men in that division and to this day is the most decorated and only decorated dog in military history when he came home he was considered a hero and was "retired" from the military and became the mascot of georgetown university but you don't hear about that unless you're a pitbull fan or a history nut. As someone said before dogs such as golden retrievers, labs, and beagles are more likely to bite you then be bitten by a pitbull and there has been numbers showing that there are at least twice as many pit bulls in population then any other dog. All i'm sayin is don't judge a book by it's cover just like people try to ban certain fish in the u.s that we may love and want to have for ourselves.

I'm sorry, but why are they called 'pittbulls' again? what were they originally bred for? You think you can escape hundreds of years of selective breeding for a specific function so easily? The breed has a predisposition to certain behavior. That doesn't mean they will all be bad dogs, and it can be dealt with by any decent owner.
There are some great Pitts, I have known a few. There are some terrible ones, I met a few of those too, with bad results. The main problem for the breed it is attractive to a lot of people for all the wrong reasons, people that probably should never own a dog in the first place.
Then there are Pitt owners who are decent owners like yourself but seem to be in a total state of denial about the breed's potential for certain behaviors.

I stand by my original statement
For every function of a Pitbull there are other breeds that fill that function better, except perhaps for fighting........

If I am incorrect then you will be able to tell me what it is that Pitts can do better than any other breed?

Look around the 2 min mark. Show me another dog that can scale a vertical wall that high. They arent the best at anything. Just the best or almost the best at everything.

Most dogs that attack are either been abused or never been socialized or come from a bad blood line. Altough anytime you own a large or powerful dog you must realize that the dog could hurt someone so you must always keep a handle on your dog. I had a bullmastiff ,Max who I believe would never hurt a fly,but his physical present alone could cause a child to get hurt. The reason I say this is because I have seen kids run fron him when he aproach them .Now if he ever got loose and ran up to a child the may panic and run , could even fall and get hurt.Even a good may bite out of fear ,when people are afraid it could trigger a dog to bite. The point is it is mostly the owner fault for a untrained dog but at the sametime you most alway be on guard with your dog because it is a animal that can do damage so you must treat if it is dangerous.

but the argument isnt are pitbulls bad dogs its the owner that makes them bad watch this video

I have to disagree with your last statement. The Dogo Argentino is a much more powerful, agile, and adapted fighter. This dog is found down south because of it's ability to hunt and kill big game such as wild boars.

But as far as the pitbull debate goes... I believe that it's the people that should have never owned them that gave them the reputation they currently have. Vick wasn't the start of it all unfortunately. DMX was also involved in dog fighting, and Coolio was the breeder of the dogs that he fought.

Growing up, I knew no one that had pitbulls. I grew up with a basset hound all my life.. but when I was 15, my dad ended up buying a pitbull puppy from someone, and that was my first pitbull exposure. He's a good dog, but I really had to stress the importance of getting him neutered, and 7 years later, they finally did. I can say that my parent shouldn't own a pitbull. The dog doesn't understand that they are in charge because they baby him. He's extremely dog aggressive, and he doesn't like strangers. Should he be put down? I don't think so, but if my parents didn't live in the remote country side, I would think differently.

I'm 21 years old now, and I proudly own 3 "pitbulls"- 1 Staffordshire terrier, 1 english mastiff/apbt, 1 apbt.

When I was 18, I met my now fiance, and our first dog was something we really wanted to think about. We looked into all different kinds of dogs, and after dismissing the dalmatian because of health issues, the pitbull was next on the list. We drove 2 hours to pick her up @ 8 weeks, and when she threw up on me in the car, I knew she was a keeper. lol.

After getting her, and starting my full time job, we decided that she needed someone there when we were not. So we bought our staffordshire. They are only a few months apart in age. Then, I found the mastiff mix on craigslist on my b-day.. I went to go check him out, and I quickly realized that he was a fight dog in training no longer wanted because he was too docile. So, I had 3 pups to house break at the same time. lol.

I decided that rescue was what I wanted to do for this breed. I at 1 point had 5 pits. In 1 year, I rescued and successfully rehomed 23 pitbulls. They were all fixed, and UTD on shots, as well as screened for animal/people/child aggression/fear. I offer free dog sitting as well. I then received a very sick puppy who battled an immune deficiency/skin issue and so my rescue was cut short to focus on a dog in medical need. I sadly had to have him euthanized yesterday after a 2 year fight.

I love pitbulls. I love mutts. I love dogs. Would I own a poodle? No. Would I talk bad about poodles? No.

I don't like to give any dog reputation that isn't true. Yes, pitbulls can be aggressive. They can hurt people. They can kill people. But any dog is capable of this. So, is it right to just stereotype pitbulls? No. Is my post, or a youtube video going to stop that? No.

So, when people have an opinion the only thing as pitbulls owners that we should be doing is educating them on the facts, and proving those stereotypes wrong. This doesn't mean jumping down people's throats just because they don't like dog you choose to keep.
