ok i have a 40 gallon breeder and the back is painted black what can i do to remove it to paint it blue???

I have yet to see a cichlid of any species stress out from being in a tank with a black background. If all one is wanting is to brighten up the overall environment when using a black background, simply use a lighter substrate, and/or brighter lighting. Problem solved.

i have 2 titanium x thai silk fh and a red dragon and i have them with know back round but the tank is very colorful, there only about 3 inches so far, the one titanium cross has a small but nice hump for his size, i also have them in a 55 gallon tank till my 120 gallon is done cycling. i buy feeders once a month but i quarintine them for a couple weeks before i feed them. there only a snack food. in there tank is a bunch of caves and free swimming space, i feed them also brine shrimp, blood worms, California black worms, leeches and cichlid pellets and cichlid sticks. i know its different then what you had said but there full of color and life. i had recently moved the red dragon to its own 55 due to fin nipping. but the set up is still the same, also the wall my tanks are set up against is a giant mirror is that good or bad?
