im goin to disappoint u now by sayin my male does have black gravel but thats only because he is in a grow out tank so i just used the left over from main tank, but he will have light coloured in his new tank. he doesnt have a background at the mo but readin that i will get him one. he is on his own though lol....mainly because he killed all my other fish! how often should i feed him? i dont feed him feeders although the other day i put in some minnows for him to chase around and so he wasnt lonely, but he did eat them all in 3mins flat! so i wont be doin that again, i underestimated him big time lol.

but what about feeding ( beef liver ) or ( beef heart ) ??
 
This has been very helpful. I've been wanting flowerhorns for a while now and today I purchased two juveniles.

I was planning on using a black background and now I will choose something different. Thanks for the useful info!
 
To me the the faded FH exception with the black background doesn't make sense. Do faded FH think differently than a non faded FH? How does that work? Does it get darker when there is a darker background because its trying to blend in or something
