This isn't all that freaky, but it sure was good! It's a lot like ceviche - raw scallops in lime juice, chiles, and onion.
I havent made that with scallops but i do it with red snapper and grouper how do you marinade yours? Also doesnt the sweetness of scallops throw off the ceviche?

Wait, people eat civet cat? Do they realize that they could be making a fortune selling coffee that goes several hundred dollars a pound? In case you're confused, google Kopi Luwak coffee. In reference to the Flying Fox, they sell Blue Gourami at an asian supermarket near me. Makes me sad to look at mine!
I saw slated tinfoil bards gourmis snakeheads, dragon gobies and spiney eels at my local H mart.

OMG, The Trust's pictures of Balut are sick... I've seen this before on TV but I really don't think I could eat it... makes my stomach churn just thinking about it. I'll eat Century eggs all day long before I try the Balut

Turning my thoughts to eating something else....

Has anyone ever had whale shark?
I had Smokey Whale Shark once in Japan

I didn't make it myself, but I'm pretty sure it was just scallops, lime juice, chile, red onion, and salt. Actually the sweetness of the scallops contrasted nicely with the lime juice, my wife thought it beat any fish ceviche.

raw fish soaked in vinegar and onions (preferably white fleshed/salt water fish).. you haven't lived until you've tasted it..

Balut is the greatest disgusting thing ever.

you could go to any hispanic market and buy 3 dollar ceviche, or go to new york have the same thing on little scallops shells maybe some ice on a silver tray and it would be 18 a piece.
