Imagine a pile of money burning and your shoveling more money at it hoping the fire will warm you alittle maybe thats how i feel about saltwater tanks sometimes.

While a nice saltwater tank can definitely be jaw dropping, what can you do under 500 gallons that beats a tank full of peacock bass, aros, and other monsters. There are no saltwater predators that go in a tank that size and are as cool as amazon fish IMO. Now if I had a public sized aquarium I might change my mind. Get some tarpon, snook, sharks, jacks, groupers etc. And a barracuda!
But for 99.99% of home sized aquariums, I think a well done freshwater predator tank would be more jaw dropping.
Also depends on the audience. If you like pretty colors than maybe its saltwater, but if you like pretty colors and ]V[onster Fish its gotta be fresh.
