Yes, but we didn't chill it enough to kill all the fermentation, and what we bottled was spoiled.
A few of the bottles exploded in the middle of the night. In my desk. Ooooooof!
I made mead once also. I used camden to stop the fermentation. I was going by what others told me. I had nothing to measure specific gravity/alcohol level. We all tried a shot glass and all had the same experience. It tasted like watered down wine with honey....then our faces got hot. Sooooo it got dumped since I was unsure of its safety. Ive brewed alot of beer since then and was thinking about trying mead again.

I made lots of mead, brewed lots of beer to the point of being obsessed. Did a podcast for years starting in 06, won gold medals. published homebrew articles. Then started a craft brewery and worked my ass off for 5 years.
That got the brewing out of my system.
But I have been thinking about doing a good mead again.
10 lbs. honey in water up to a total of 5 gallons total. Keep it in the carboy for 6 months transfering it into a clean carboy at least once.
Then age it a year. Mead ferments very slow unless you add nutrients to it as if ferments.
I'm afraid we only aged ours for about six weeks until the end of the semester.
And it all exploded on us.
In those days you can get a six pack of none popular beer for $0.99 and we were really too spoiled to waste time making alcohol when America has the finest alcohol making industry on the planet.
I did it. I ordered the "Algae Culture Chlorella Vulgaris"
I wonder if I could grow enough to make a difference in my catfish / bass pond?
I need to ask that over at the Pond Boss Forum I think.
