If I got a buck for every "FRT killed/wounded my ray" story, I'd be a wealthy man right now.

Aside from the fact that FRTs are an omnivorous species that do prey on other animals, they're also a brackish water/high alkaline species. Their preferred water chemistry is the opposite of what FW riverine rays prefer.

micheal - how did you work out the water chem. issue with your combo??? which way in terms of water chem. did you go along with???

when I had my frt it killed many bottom dwellers. The ones it couldnt it would bite. It went through a 6" pictus, 8 3" clown loaches, a few other small things, and then took bites at my 10" lima shovel nose. I wouldnt risk it. Thats why I never put mine with my rays

i just keep all my tanks at 7.0ph and 0 across the board with everything else. I am not doubting my FRT will gt more aggressive but so far so good. no scratches, bites, dead fish etc.

where the hell do u get a frt? aren't they CITES protected?

No idea where you can easily find one now. I got my pairs before their inclusion in CITES. Prices now are ridiculous compared to the $65 I paid for each of mine.

there were 2 on kingsnake.com over the weekend. I think they were going for about $1K each.
