FRT and stingray

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
my truthfull opinion is stay well away from the FRT For a few reason

1- they kill fish for fun
2- they grow big 24inch shell disk
3- they polute the tank water real bad and you may have big trouble keeping the water good enought for the ray
4- they cost alot now as they were striped from the wild a few years ago when the FRT craze was big
5- you have no chance of breeding them unless you have a river bank at the side of your tank
6- the main thing is they live to 50 years + do you realy want to take on a 50yr FRT project

I once had a leo drown a frt. The leo was large the turtle small. The leo would swoop over the frt and hold him down, I had seen this done but never thought it would end that way.....so if you do keep em together just seperate as soon as you see strange behavior to avoid a sad situation.

And i once had a motoro drown a frt too. And i have also heard first hand from friends
what kind of damage a frt would do to a ray. Sure , it may work , i also have a friend who
has a 55 gallon with 7 super red piranhas along with an oscar. So far so good.. but for how long?

I have also kept it with an arowana.. it worked well for months then one day i came home to see the aro with its tail bit off .

okay, I wont try it. At what size did your frts start acting aggressive? So far mine is okay and I keep him with a bunch of goldfish, kois, and barbs.

Most of the reasons on that list applies to all the other monster fish on here. Also, I have never seen or heard of a 24" frt in a home aquarium.

he was eatting 4-6 algue waffers per day then he started eatting prawn mussel cucomber tetra reptomin

i aslo used to have a 10inch scarlet pleco in the tank and when he got to that size he used to snap at it and swim around with it in his mouth for ages thats why i know how powerful the jaws on a FRT are as i had to put the scalet pleco out of his mouth a few times
