Na its part of the universe of having turts. Turtles as a group are very strong animals and its better to keep them in robust soroundings, they will destroy any fancy decoration, unless of corse we are talking about realy big habitats in wich we can put non toxic live plants and stuffselki;2116542; said:alright ill have to separate them later. so.....do they really scratch glass tanks n leave visible marks?!!! so annoying
Unless your tank becames realy anoying for your turts (poluted water, extreme temps, etc), you have a gravid female or one of your turts is sick(like with pneumonia that makes turts want to get out of the water) it is very unlikely that a frt will try to leave the water let alone excape your tank. They are very uncofortable out of the water. Keep them happy and a good tank lid and you have nothing to worry about.selki;2116553; said:well if their claws r strong enough to scratch n leave marks...im sure they can consistently scratch at one spot and escape your TANK?!?! worst case scenario.
They have claws just like any soft shell turtle. The 2 only times in my existence that Ive hold one in my hands the claws felt just like any one from a softshell turtle of comparable size. And as such they leave marks in the glass that make themselfes notice over the years. You are lucky in that way. Normal turts like sliders leave marks not only from the claws but also from the shell margin. Most of us turt owners really dont care about thatselki;2116554; said:and how do u know if FRT's have claws that r strong as your turtles? are all turtles solid claw predestined born?
Yes I see. My teach kept his in a big stock tank. Man I miss this teach so much, the coolest teach I ever had.selki;2116597; said:well if it do scratch up my expensive tank id rather transfer them into a big black plastic pond...
thats the reason y i wana kno if it scratches it up.....I kinda wana keep the tank cherry for a long time
