FW aquarium controller

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Carp, I think this will be fun and a great learning experience for you and "the team". I've often debated with myself about getting an automation controller for the FW, but several times concluded that I'm getting it because it would be "cool" rather than really having the need for it - for me personally anyway. IMO, there are many relatively inexpensive (compared to Apex) that exists that would more than meet my needs for FW. Temp controller, ATO, nitrate monitor, pH, etc...Again, this will be a good experience.

In my humble opinion whether for profit or for fun/learn, as with any software/hardware product you should scope out the functions and the features you want (or think people want) to have. Start with something simple like temp controller, then iterate on it. You've mentioned "design" a few times, but I'd take a step back and look at functions and features you want first before designing anything.

I am starting to feel like this is almost a waste of time. I had a section on my site dedicated to it. I removed that because I felt that it wasn't needed. I wouldn't use a FW aquarium controller. Would you? I would like to do other things like focus on my site and such. What should I do?

What you're trying to do isn't exactly simple, especially getting it to the level of quality you would have to get it to for anyone to spend their money on it. There are countless factors at work.

I know. I would like to focus on my website, but now I am not sure if I can do both. I would much rather focus on my site than do this controller. The controller project was fun at first, but now that I realize how hard it is to do something high quality and useful, it isn't that fun.

Some people find the challenge exciting. But you've answered your own question, do your website. Do what you want to do.
