FW puffer that looks like a SW

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Actually, they do better in lower SG as juvies. Read the article on them on their Library. We don't really know the long-term effects of putting juvies into SW.

oh i know its just if im gonne be slowly eddging up the salt til full marine conditions i might aswell just get one of the marine puffers that i love from the start.
the whole reason i was looking for FW ones was because i would rather it than marine as my last attempt of keeping marine and puffers went absolutely wrong

Sorry to hear that. Did you look thru all the FW ones? There are a bunch of cool ones.

yeah i did, its also problematic that i would have to be able to get them in.
i would really love to keep the panda or "masked" puffer as i had one last year that unfortunetly died and was my favourite fish

ph would also like to add ive been looking through all my dads marine books earlier hes got about 5 really good ones, comparing information etc.
i like porcupine puffers and ive never seen a huge one, 2 of the books said they get huge (older books) and the newer ones said no larger then 9" in aquariums usualy.
does this mean they are keepable for 4'x2'x18"
the valentini toby i have upstairs in the reef says it gets 4" ive had it for years and it eats very well and only is 2"

so are sizes overexagerated or should i just stear clear of porcupines as i always have?
sorry for all the questions i really apreciate the help pufferpunk

It's not just the length of the fish being able to swim around a tank--it's the mass of the fish & the massive amounts of food = waste involved. The solution to pollution is dilution!

You know... they do kinda look like a triggerfish.
