Fx6 aquastop valve leak

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Your DIY solution is outstanding... and now having gone through my *second* round of Fluval aquastop valves for my FX6, I'm ready to follow in your footsteps. Can you describe the particular couplings/pieces... especially where you connect with the pipe claps from the OEM flex-hoses to your PVC... and then again what exactly you're using to connect to the terminals on the top of the filter itself? I walked the aisle for an hour at home depot today and couldn't easily find something to make the "transition"... but clearly you have! Thanks!

Anything that fits top fairly snug would work then i used 3/4 cpvc pipe inside the flex pipe from top of connector on lid to just above the flex hose so i could connect a 90 elbow then a threaded union and then shut off valve then a 3/4 cpvc to 3/4 pvc adapter amd short piece of 3/4 pvc to connect stock hose with clamp

just a update. cleaned all 4 filters this week and have a spare tap, 7 out of 9 taps leak after cleaning, all were smeared with silicone grease, 5 days later 2 are still leaking, also carnt buy new taps anyware . great filters but **** taps and backup. also have removed hard tubing from taps to lessen the flex.
another update for anybody with the same problem, two wraps with thread seal tape under the o-ring has fixed the problem. putting the leaking valve on the intake just sucks air and rattles a lot,

First off, D dilligaf327 you are my hero!

I'm actually the OP and must have lost track of this thread. Fast forward 2 years later and I find myself doing maintenance on one of my FX6 and history repeats itself, the output valve is leaking! Only this time, the input and purge valves are leaking as well!

I removed, cleaned and reassembled the valves multiple times only to have fixed the purge from leaking.

Frustrated, I googled and low and behold, found my own thread. To my surprise, there were a few solutions. Figured I would try the thread tape idea as it didn't require much. Needless to say, my FX6 is running dry!

I was *this* close in getting a eheim 2262 ?

I have 3 Fx6 2 Fx4 and and a 2262 (a few others also) One of mine starting leaking last night and I'm crossing my fingers this works. I can not express how much I despise the FX filters, they have been nothing but an expensive pile of cheap plastic. I also can not recommend more the 2262. Not once in 5 yrs have I had even a micro bubble, leak ect.. from day one it has given me zero issues. Unlike the fx, which at this point, it feels like eveytime I even just look at them, something happens.
