I think I'm just gonna go with pot scrubbers in 2 trays and one tray of prefilter or pads

That was my plan, but I've read that scrubbers in canister filters doesn't work as well as having something like ceramic media. Though this will be run in conjunction with an eheim 2026 FULL of bio media, plus the bio media in my 2 AC110s.... 4 filters on a 75 gallon all rated for over 100 gallons ;)

Yeah thought about scrubbies...also heard not so good submerged...let us know which way you go? want know how this thing does as a mechanical filter ie full of ehfimech or scrubbies on two and pads on top, maybe sponges on two and matrix on top??? if you picked one of these up or some of these let us know how you filled them and its performance so we can all figure out the best for our set ups, posted mine all is well except notice air purgeing from time to time??? anybody else have this problem....

Glad to see amazon honored the $17 typo, its to bad they caught it so quick. I had a bad exp with mine but I would still buy a bunch for $17..... Id use vasaline on the gasket mine stared to leak after a year or so.

I have fx5s and the plastic anchors for the lid locking clamp is a major design flaw.

Just got done switching the media in the cf400. I used 2 pads in the bottom tray, a pad then pot scrubbers in the 2nd tray, the bio pad a scrubbers in the 3rd tray. Switched out and did the same in my cascade 1000 except I had prefilter in the bottom tray. All together I have 15 total pot scrubbers in the cf400 in the top trays and the flow looks and feels stronger. Since the top trays aren't just filter pads. Feels much stronger than my cascade

 Let us know how that goes, mine will be here next week

If anyone who got these at $17 feel like doing a good deed for a fellow member here and make a few bucks for their effort please shoot me a PM. If that's a shameless request then so be it because I'm running a Fluval 305 and it's just not enough filter for my setup so I'm going to be in the market for another one at some point. I'm considering finding a HOB I have in a box somewhere that always did a good job for me but if i can get my hands on one of these inexpensively I would love to test it out. Usually I'm the king of deals and somehow I missed this one. Perhaps I can pay it forward somehow in the future for whoever helps me out this time. I've had cichlids for decades now and I try to help people out on the forum whenever I can if that matters at all.

Don't beg. The filter is worth the $100 they want for them. If u lived near me here in ny there's a guy selling some eheim canisters pretty cheap

Who's begging? That's pretty rude to say when all I did was post that I'm in need of one if someone wants to sell one. I'm not asking for any handouts.
